  • It received 266 upvotes, 218 points overall and 48 comments
• December 2012 — Term “Doge” appears in subreddit /r/DogsIWannaHug
• January 8th, 2013 — Subreddit /r/Doge was created, sharing photos and videos of the captioned Shiba Inus
• November 20, 2013 — Youtube implements "Doge" easter egg
  • Activates when user searches the phrase "doge meme" inside of the video search

• June 24th, 2014 — A California-based gaming accessory company filed to trademark “Doge” with the United States patent office
  • General Manager Jay Kuo claimed the trademark was filed to protect the company from being sued
  • The company also claims they would give “royalty-free use for any vendor who wishes to use the mark.”
